چکیده

Heart failure is being increasingly recognized the world over. Hypertension and ischemic heart disease are the two cardinal causes of heart failure. Over the years, a voluminous amount of literature has accumulated regarding various facets of hypertensive heart failure. Despite this, the risk and mechanisms of heart failure in patients with hypertension is not completely understood. Further, due to the common coexistence of coronary artery disease (CAD) and hypertension in the population, the relative contributions of CAD and hypertension to heart failure have been difficult to disentangle. This article provides an overview of the salient aspects of hypertensive heart failure (HHF) from a clinical standpoint.
